H1N1 & the Flu Vaccine – Are You Willing to Take the Risk?
October 22, 2009
Daily we are bombarded with media exaggeration of flu ”pandemics” - the H1N1 strand in particular. The panicked urgency communicated through the mediums of television, radio, and internet attempt to send us running to the nearest grocery store or pharmacy to wait in line for ”must-have” vaccines.- A greater concern for the vaccine’s potential damaging and life-altering side-effects than the actual flu virus
- The inadequate testing of the vaccine before it was rushed to the market.
- The reality that the vaccine is a proven neuro-toxin (meaning it is toxic to the nervous system).
- The vaccine contains 25,000 times more than the accepted level of mercury allowed in foods we consume.
- Overall, the vaccine is too big a risk to take.
Regardless of the pressure from media sources, or the smooth-talking doctors trying to convince you of your need for the flu vaccine…are you willing to take the risk?

Testimonies of Hope
October 19, 2009
Arthritis. Blood Pressure. Cancer. Diabetes. Fibromyalgia. Headaches. Lupus. Polio. Strep Throat. TMJ.
The above list is just a small taste of the numerous life-altering issues affecting so many people today. Are you one who is struggling with a health problem for which you can’t seem to find lasting relief? Do you watch helplessly as a loved one battles an illness that appears hopeless to ever change or improve?
God uniquely designed our bodies with the incredible ability to heal themselves. Unfortunately, due to poor diets, lack of exercise, and the toxins we take in daily via household cleaners, the air we breathe, and excessive use of antibiotics and medications…our body’s natural tendency to combat disease and self-heal has all-too-often been hindered, if not completely shut down.
Would you jump at the opportunity to feel good again…to enjoy life pain-free? THERE IS HOPE FOR YOU!!!
Scroll down and click on the “Conditions” pages to read testimonies of people who once suffered from various ailments, but saw radical improvement (and even complete healing!) through the use of Shaklee supplements – natural products contained in forms that your body is able to recognize, receive, and put to good use. Shaklee supplements have offered hope and a future to countless individuals just like you!

If you are battling an issue that you do not see addressed on the “Conditions” pages, please contact me at chaihealth@gmail.com, and I’ll do my best to find a testimony specific to your symptoms/diagnosis.

A More Efficient Way to Workout
October 13, 2009
Is it Time for a Change?
Are you one who believes a workout isn’t sufficient unless you spend 30 minutes to an hour running on a treadmill, five days a week?
If so…how’s that been working for you? Perhaps the same ‘ole routine, as well as the excessive time commitment, are causing your motivation to decline. Or maybe you are experiencing frustration at the lack of improvement in your overall physical shape.
Are you ready to try a workout that will take less of your time, while burning a greater amount of fat? Yes…that really is possible!!
What Makes Burst Training Different?
The traditional method of working out, which usually involves lengthy periods of time on a piece of cardio equipment or in the weight room, keeps your body in the fat-burning zone for the duration of the exercise. Even though you are burning fat while working out, in the 36-48 hours after exercising, your body then switches over to sugar burning mode. When your body is in a sustained period of sugar burning, it has to draw that sugar from your muscle stores. This is not what you want, especially when trying to lose body fat and gain lean muscle!!
Cells can only use sugar or fat for energy. So whatever energy you use/burn during a workout…your body will use the opposite energy during the hours following the exercise, and on into the next day as well. It is vital that you set your body up for ultimate success through giving it the opportunity to burn as much fat as possible.
Burst Training, also known as Surge, Interval, or Sprint Training, offers your body a proven method for burning greater amounts of fat than lengthy periods of low intensity endurance or aerobic training.
Would You Rather have the Body of a Sprinter or a Marathon Runner?
Have you ever compared the build of a sprinter with that of a marathon runner? The differences are pretty obvious. A sprinter is lean and quite muscular, while a marathon runner usually has fat stores around their stomach and appears to be void of much muscle mass.
Why is there such a stark difference between the two? While both clearly have very rigid and demanding training habits, style of training is key to the body’s physique, as well as its ability to perform.
Sprinters primarily train via short bursts of high-intensity exercise. This causes the body’s levels of Growth Hormone and testosterone to increase, and also raises the metabolism. Thus the body is better able to hold onto muscle. Sprinters burn stored sugar during their high-intensity workouts; so in the 36-48hrs following exercise, the sprinter’s body switches to a state of burning fat.
A marathon runner trains for endurance – lengthy bouts of exercise at a steady pace or low intensity. Fat is being used while exercising, but then the body changes over to burning/losing muscle in the hours following the workout. The metabolism slows down, which results in fat stores developing in various places throughout the body.
The Science Behind Burst Training
Dr. Daniel Pompa, of Pompa Health Solutions, is perhaps the country’s leading expert on weight loss, chiropractic care, and detoxification. He specializes in neurotoxic illness, often attracting the cases that leave most doctors scratching their heads and confused because there seem to be no answers. In the following videos, Dr. Pompa takes a few moments to discuss and then demonstrate Burst Training:
There are modifications for Burst Training, which I will post in the future. But for now, here is a sample outline of what a Burst Training workout would look like. You simply apply the BT method to whatever exercise you are doing (sprints, squats + shoulder press combo, jumping jacks, etc):
1st Set (Warm-up):
- 60-70% of your max
- 30-60 second burst
2nd, 3rd, & 4th Sets:
- All-out/80-90% max heart rate
- 30-60 second bursts
- Rest 2-3mins in between sets
Stretch
Or…
1st Set (warm-up):
- 60-70% of your max
- 20-30 sec burst
- Rest for the same amount of time you burst (20 sec burst = 20 sec rest)
- Repeat two more times, then rest 2-3 minutes
2nd, 3rd, & 4th Sets:
- All out/80-90% max heart rate
- 20-30 sec burst
- Rest for the same amount of time you burst (20 sec burst = 20 sec rest)
- Repeat two more times, then rest 2-3 minutes between sets
Listening to your body is key. If you are sore or unable to go all-out for some other reason, just do the best that you can at that time. Push yourself as much as possible. It will be normal for there to be a decrease in your length of sustained exercise with each set. For example, if you were able to sprint for 25 seconds the first time, after resting 25 seconds you might only be able to last 23 seconds the next sprint. That is okay! You will feel and see improvements as you continue to implement the Burst Training method!

My Fitness Background
October 13, 2009
As far back as I can remember, I have had an extremely active lifestyle. Throughout my junior high and high school years, at one time or another I played volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, and ran cross country. While I enjoyed all these sports, the game of basketball was definitely at the top of my list.
I began playing basketball in the 4th grade, and quickly developed a passion for becoming the best player I could possibly be. Over the course of the next 16 or 17 years, basketball was part of my life in some way, shape, or form. In those early years, right up through my senior year of high school, I dreamed of getting a scholarship to play basketball at a Southeastern Conference school. God allowed my dream to become a reality when I signed a basketball scholarship with the University of Alabama.
Playing in front of large crowds, taking part in the NCAA tournament (including a trip to the “Sweet 16”), and being on television are a few of the “highs” that came along with that level of competition. But any serious athlete knows there is a price to pay for success in their sport(s). It takes hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and determination to excel above the competition. I understand these principles, and through living them out I’ve been blessed to experience the sense of accomplishment when a goal is attained, the joy of sweet victory, and also the pain of loss and disappointment. My involvement in sports taught me many life lessons, for which I will always be grateful.
Over the years I have had countless opportunities to visit various cities, states, and countries via the avenue of the game of basketball. In my collegiate years, I played in tournaments in Hawaii and the Bahamas. I began traveling internationally at the age of 13. To date, I have been to Chile; the Dominican Republic; Costa Rica; Skopje, Macedonia; Thessaloniki, Greece; Switzerland; Nairobi & Mombasa, Kenya; Rhodes & Athens, Greece; Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Tiberias, the Sea of Galilee – - Israel; Beit Jala, Beit Sahour, “Beit Lehem” (Bethlehem), Jericho, & the Judean Valley- - Palestine. What incredible experiences!!!
Running has always been a hobby I enjoy, so when I travel, I love to scout out new spots to run. Some of the most unique places I’ve logged miles include: the northern shores of the Aegean Sea in Thessaloniki, Greece; along the shores of the Indian Ocean in Mombasa, Kenya; the outskirts of Jerusalem, just outside the apartheid wall of separation between Israel and Palestine; along the shores of the Southeastern Aegean Sea in Rodos, Greece; the beaches of Hawaii and the Bahamas, and more!
With my passion for sports and nutrition, I more-or-less fell right into the world of personal training. I have a deep compassion for people who are struggling for various reasons with their physical bodies – whether that struggle involves a weight issue, being uneducated about proper eating and supplementing habits, or a prolonged illness.
I desire to see people equipped and set free to live without hindrance, overcoming physical setbacks that have plagued them for far too long.
Over the years I have seen and incorporated myriads of workout routines, exercises, and equipment. I know firsthand which ones have the greatest benefits with the most long-lasting results. Thus far, the most impacting workout I’ve seen is called “Burst Training.” I look forward to sharing more info about Burst Training in the near future, so be sure you come back soon!

Are You Ready to Step Into the River?
September 27, 2009
1 -2 Now he brought me back to the entrance to the Temple. I saw water pouring out from under the Temple porch to the east (the Temple faced east). The water poured from the south side of the Temple, south of the altar. He then took me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the gate complex on the east. The water was gushing from under the south front of the Temple. 3 -5 He walked to the east with a measuring tape and measured off fifteen hundred feet, leading me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured off another fifteen hundred feet, leading me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another fifteen hundred feet, leading me through water waist-deep. He measured off another fifteen hundred feet. By now it was a river over my head, water to swim in, water no one could possibly walk through. 6 -7 He said, “Son of man, have you had a good look?” Then he took me back to the riverbank. While sitting on the bank, I noticed a lot of trees on both sides of the river.
8 -10 He told me, “This water flows east, descends to the Arabah and then into the sea, the sea of stagnant waters. When it empties into those waters, the sea will become fresh. Wherever the river flows, life will flourish—great schools of fish—because the river is turning the salt sea into fresh water. Where the river flows, life abounds. Fishermen will stand shoulder to shoulder along the shore from En-gedi all the way north to En-eglaim, casting their nets. The sea will teem with fish of all kinds, like the fish of the Great Mediterranean. 11 “The swamps and marshes won’t become fresh. They’ll stay salty. 12 “But the river itself, on both banks, will grow fruit trees of all kinds. Their leaves won’t wither, the fruit won’t fail. Every month they’ll bear fresh fruit because the river from the Sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.” (Ezekiel 47:1-12)
Is your body in pain? Step into the river… Are your eating habits more destructive than beneficial? Get your feet wet… Has your weight gotten out of control? Allow your ankles to be soaked… Do you live in bondage to fear, anger, or insecurity? Step out a little deeper… Does your mind need to be renewed? Permit the water to cover your knees…then rise to your waist… Are past hurts hindering your destiny? Do not resist when the water engulfs you…and carries you away…
How much healing are you willing to pursue? Just enough to wet your feet, cover your ankles, soak your knees…or are you ready to be completely immersed??!! Join me on this transforming, healing journey of body, soul, and spirit! We’ll wade through the waters together, trusting Jehovah Rophe to wash over us, soaking us with His life-giving love and power. I promise this will be a journey you’ll never regret!!
